The setting seems to be an office of sorts, slightly disorganized but still looking like a place where business is regularly conducted. A long wooden desk filled with tons of papers, manila folders, flyers of sorts, empty beer bottles and a couple of picture frames that are facing the other way.
A wide variety of posters can be seen on the walls, ranging from a WWA poster, a few WcE WildSide ones, a Bulletproof JEST one and a couple of photos taken from WHQ matches.
And leaning on the desk, dressed in black shorts, a white button-down t-shirt and a serious expression, is none other than former WcE champion James Whitman.
He is looking behind the camera, and nods towards whatever or whoever is there. He then moves his face a bit and stares directly at the camera.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I am here today to speak to you about a very serious matter. For those of you who don’t know me, I am James Whitman, cousin of former WHQ wrestler David Whitman.”
He takes a deep breath, cracks his neck and continues talking.
“As some, probably most, of you already know, last month David was viciously attacked in the parking lot of the US Airways center, right after announcing his new limited-match contract with WHQ and the 2010 release of the new JEST Kiddin’ INC movie, Spree. And, as most of you also probably know, WHQ Champ Zack Evermore was attacked not too long before that. Thankfully, Zack’s recovery has been going well and he is definitely going to be a part of the next WHQ show. That, however, is not what I am here to tell you.”
James looks down, and continues to do so as he tries to explain.
“We all know who was behind this all, and we can all guess as to the reasons why. My lawyers have advised me not to say anything about what I believe may have happened, and that is why I have kept quite up until now, even though right after the attack in Phoenix I said I would speak out about this. But here’s the thing. Last week, I went to the hospital to see David. He was better than ever, he said. Even ready to train. And yesterday, I went back to check up on him.”
James looks up at the camera.
“He wasn’t there.”
The pure lack of emotion shoots out through his eyes and drips from his words.
“The doctors, the nurses, even security… nobody would tell me anything. The closest I got to any sort of explanation was ‘maybe he’s been transferred’, and that was that.”
James now stands up straight.
“So here is what I am proposing. The person, or persons, responsible for this and everything else that’s been happening; I ask you to please man up and show yourselves, and give us your reasons. I also ask for an apology, which I do not think is too much. But most of all, I ask for my cousin to come home.”
There is a faint change in his voice, almost as if he is pleading and demanding at the same time.
James lets out a long sigh before bowing his head.
“Thank you. And to all the WHQ fans, I only have this to say…”
A couple of seconds pass, as James seems to be summoning up courage, or will, or possibly just a bit of strength to go on.
“…It’s all gonna be okay.”
He now turns his back to the camera as he waves to towards it and mumbles “turn it off” before walking off-screen.
The camera cuts to static, and then black.
